The Bde assaulted for companies into HOT LZ's around the village of Thon AN Thai, just east of Quang Tri. The first task was to knock out the NVA's heavy weapons support and then block the enemy form the rear. The ARA and artillery found many NVA moving along Route 1. While the fighting would last for 10 days the enemy would loose more then 875 killed and 100 captured. march, during one of our firefights we air assaulted southeast of Quang
Tri. We were in the rear of a NVA regiment battalions. The entire company
was airmobiled onto one side of Highway 1. Company A was used just
south of the road for blocking positions. We went forward and ran into
the 812th NVA regiment. Along with supporting helicopter gunships, we
quickly destroyed this fighting unit.
